All over the world for 30 minutes at the same time, women will tell or sing stories about themselves or other women.

‘Wonderful Welsh Women’(WWW)

will be celebrating the achievements and struggles of women in the last 100 years and there will be guests to give a high profile to the day Organisations are being asked to bring forward names of women in Wales who have made a difference (Founding members etc). The event will be supported by Swansea Soroptimist International and the Wales South Region of Soroptimist International.

Join Me On The Bridge

"Join me on the Bridge" is a global campaign from Women for Women International (WWI) "Stronger Women Build Bridges of Peace" In support of UN Resolution 1325.
It is based on a simple concept; women (and of course children and men), be it two, 200, 2000 or more, join together on International Women's Day to build bridges of peace. They do this by standing on a bridge near them and holding banners calling for peace, all over the world.
Also taking part - Girlguiding UK, Mothers' Union, Girls' Friendly Society, Chwarae Teg, GENCAS, Swansea Women's Centre, MEWN, Women4Resources.

A Woman Alone

Lunchtime Theatre: Fluellen Theatre Co present A Woman Alone by Dario Fo
To celebrate 100 years of International Women's Day, Fluellen present a great feminist play from Italy's finest living playwright. A Woman Alone is a black comedy about a housewife held prisoner in her own home. The play is presented script-in-hand and preceded by a talk about the writer's life and work.

Women in The Bay Night

A spectacular evening celebrating women and music. Featuring the legendary folk singer Frankie Armstrong, the amazing Women in Jazz Allstars Swing Band, local band Sera and the Elements and singer, songwriter Cerys John. Come along, have a drink and socialise. All money from this event will be given to Swansea Women’s Centre who play an integral part in our community by helping and supporting local women. Whether it be helping with the effects of domestic abuse, mental health issues or just a cup of tea and a chat. The Women’s Centre know people who can help you, whatever the issue. They also run fantastic workshops and classes.
